Kisses vs. balls

Women says her dog is named after a ball game played on dirt courts.

"How clever! So, you spell it Bocce?" I ask.

"No, it's Baci," she says.

"Ooh, like the candy!" I say smiling, thinking of the chocolate treats bearing the Italian word for "kiss."

She's quiet. Stares blankly for a moment.

Suspect she'll hide this spelling error from her sports-fanatic husband.
